Esoteric World Instruments

As interest in world music has expanded over the years, traditional ethnic genres have become more well known and popular in their own right. Esoteric instruments have found their way into contemporary western music and are frequently heard on recordings and used in concert shows. Haight Ashbury Music Center is proud to offer a broad spectrum of ethnic instruments for our customers.

Our collection of international stringed instruments includes: South American charango, Irish lap harp, Turkish oud, Indian sitar, Turkish saz and Celtic bouzouki. We also carry several Brazilian stringed instruments, such as cavaquinho, concertista and bandolin. In addition, we offer an assortment of wind/breath instruments from around the world, including Indian and North American bamboo flutes, Peruvian and Bolivian pan pipes, ocarinas and more. We also carry a selection of ethnic instrument accessories, including traditional strings and picks.

By far, our biggest category of ethnic instruments is our Ethnic Percussion collection. We carry one of the largest assortments of world percussion on the West Coast. For more information, check out our Ethnic Percussion page.
